About Lauren

Lauren graduated from Trinity College of Music with a BMus (Hons) in 2007 where she studied with Wissam Boustany.

Lauren Turner - BMus (Hons)Originally from Zimbabwe, Lauren began her music tuition at the Zimbabwe College of Music in Harare and later with renowned pianist, Jeanette Micklem.

Whilst studying at Trinity Lauren played in master classes & learnt with David Heath, Rachel Brown, Daniel Pailthorpe, Anna Noakes, Lynda Coffin, Alan Baker and Ian Clarke. Her studies at Trinity were generously supported and assisted by the Sir John Barbirolli Foundation, the Musicians Benevolent Fund and the Lawrence Atwell Charity.

Lauren is currently enjoying a career as a freelance flautist and instrumental tutor in London, actively performing as a soloist and gigging with her flute quartet, Flautet.


Ingoma charity concertPerformance highlights include playing for "Ingoma"- a Zimbabwean Charity Concert featuring Leslie Howard, Hamish Milne, and Dame Felicity Lott; Bach Brandenburg 4 with the English Concert Orchestra, 3 Vivaldi Concerti in Zimbabwe, performing in the Royal Albert Hall and appearing at City Hall with Flautet for the Labour Party.

Lauren recently organised and participated in a tour to Botswana with Wissam Boustany and Jeanette Micklem giving concerts and master classes to local flute students in Gaborone. She hopes to continue tours to Botswana and extend this work within the South African Region.

Awarded grant from The Royal Philharmonic Society, Sir Barbirolli Foundation, to purchase a new flute
